The Allied Powers aimed to capture the Dardanelles and Istanbul. If the Dardanelles had passed to the Allied Powers, they would have been able to easily provide all kinds of support to Russia. The attacks started in 1915.
Against these attacks, the Ottoman Army caused heavy losses to the enemy navy by laying mines in the Bosphorus as a war strategy.
With the sinking of the Nusret Mine Ship, which was of great importance for the navy, the Allied Powers troops were defeated and were forced to give up the naval attack. They continued the attack by landing on the Gallipoli Peninsula on 25 April 1915.
The Allied Powers, which made three landings in total, were forced to withdraw from the Gallipoli Peninsula in December 1916 after the third defeat.
The Battle of Gallipoli, a difficult war, is described as an epic in Turkish history. It went down in history as the victory won by the Turkish nation, as a great victory was achieved with a weaker army against the Allied Powers, which had a strong navy.
