A team of students from the amateur radio club at Bilfen High School is embarking on a special DXpedition to Svalbard for scientific research and amateur radio activities. The young team will be on the air starting August 12 with the callsign JW/YM2XBL, operating on SSB and FT8 modes.
In addition to their short-term operation, the team will also launch a long-term project: beginning August 13, they will establish a WSPR station that will operate continuously for the next 5 years in Svalbard. This station will collect valuable data on radio wave propagation and atmospheric conditions.
This expedition is more than just a radio operation it includes scientific experiments, environmental observations, and a variety of educational projects.
We wish great success to the young team and the dedicated educators supporting this inspiring journey.
